Four Major Wine Events Unite in Mainz

In April 2026, Mainz becomes a meeting point for wine professionals as four major wine events unite under the banner of WineMainz, offering a three-day overview of Germany’s top-quality wines.

Four Major Wine Events Unite in Mainz

From April 25 to 27, 2026, the city of Mainz will once again become a key destination for the international wine trade as four major wine events come together under the umbrella of WineMainz. Led by VDP.Prädikatsweingüter and supported by several leading wine associations, the initiative brings a wide spectrum of German wine into focus. From origin-driven wines and biodynamic viticulture to traditionally bottle-fermented sparkling wines.

By bringing four established events together in one coordinated weekend, WineMainz offers wine professionals a unique opportunity to explore the diversity, craftsmanship and regional identity that define Germany’s wine culture today. The format creates a dynamic platform for tasting, exchange and discovery, while also strengthening Mainz’s role as an important hub for the German wine trade.

Beyond the tastings, visitors are also encouraged to explore the surrounding wine regions. With many renowned vineyards located just a short distance from the city, winery visits provide a natural extension of the program and an opportunity to experience German wine at its source.

During the three days visitors can explore the following events:

VDP. Weinbörse

For more than 50 years, the VDP.Weinbörse has been regarded as the world’s leading trade fair for top-quality German wines. Held at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz, the event brings together nearly all 199 VDP member wineries, offering an unparalleled overview of Germany’s finest producers and their latest vintages.

The tasting provides international trade professionals with a unique opportunity to compare wines from across Germany’s wine-growing regions in one place. Visitors can gain an early insight into the new vintage while exploring the diversity and stylistic precision that characterize the wines of the VDP estates.

The event also marks important moments for the association, including the debut of the VDP.ERSTES GEWÄCHS® classification tier, alongside a representative selection of fruity Prädikat wines and VDP.SEKT. For buyers, sommeliers and wine professionals, the VDP.Weinbörse remains one of the most important platforms for discovering and evaluating the top tier of German wine.
